Grands-to-Be Workshop

Our Grands-to-Be class is a comprehensive newborn care class. Designed for grandparents to be, most of whom have raised babies of their own but are in need of a refresher, this three-hour class covers all the most up-to-date information on newborn care, infant feeding, safe sleep, and more. You will gain the tools to help your loved ones through their early days of parenting, from the moment the baby arrives through the first two weeks of his or her life. You will leave class prepared to support new parents in taking care of their newborn, providing targeted, compassionate support to best support the family through these early days.

 

This workshop teaches you more than just a few tips -- it will give you the tools to be a strong support person and ease the new parents' transition. Class topics include:

  • Understanding today's birth and postpartum landscape
  • When to provide support
  • What is the “fourth trimester”?
  • Benefits of skin-to-skin contact
  • Supporting breastfeeding
  • Typical newborn sleep
  • AAP recommendations for safe sleep
  • Updated newborn care guidelines
  • Soothing a fussy baby
  • Providing meaningful support
  • Protecting space for a new family
