Service Description

Our lactation / infant feeding specialist support infant feeding at any time during the postpartum period, but most frequently in the early days and weeks following the baby’s birth. Our role is to support new parents and babies in optimizing the feeding experience. All Family Ways lactation specialists have completed training and have experience as infant feeding counselors. We draw on professional training, knowledge, and experience to understand the medical history of you and your baby, provide a physical assessment of your breasts and an assessment of how your baby breastfeeds (including, by lactation consultants only, an examination of his/her mouth and tongue), provide instruction on the use of infant feeding aids and equipment, and offer helpful hints and other educational information to help you breast/chestfeed, bottle feed, and/or express milk. We offer multiple avenues for infant feeding support. Our team includes both International Board-Certified Lactation Consultants (IBCLCs) and Certified Lactation Counselors (CLCs) / Certified Lactation Educators (CLEs). Please be sure to review at the time of booking which of our team members you wish to work with. Price is inclusive of travel fee to client's home; travel fee portion may not be reimbursable by all insurances. Insurance coverage is generally only extended to IBCLC services, and not to CLC or CLE services. Please note that there is an additional $25 administrative fee for preparation of paperwork for submission to insurance.
